After a great deal of experimenting and fine-tuning of our carpet fiber technology, Wear-Dated achieved the highest level of beauty, comfort and durability through three distinct factors– the fiber material, the fiber shape and the mix of denier and cross-sections.

Created in the early '50s, Wear-Dated premium nylon fiber remains more resistant, resilient and radiant than other carpet fibers. In addition to a tighter structure, these fibers possess a higher degree of internal bonding and maximum alignment of molecular chains. Thus even in heavy foot traffic, it resists getting smashed showing 20% more resiliency and a 12% harder fiber surface than other carpet fibers. Perfect for the demands of commercial interiors, premium nylon is the fiber specified most often by professional designers and architects.

Wear-Dated’s unique carpet fiber cross-section is three-sided, or trilobal. The three sides create a more natural-looking carpet surface that refracts more light and generates greater color brilliance. In addition, the trilobal shape means that each fiber holds clear, crisp, saturated color with 30% less dye, and offers more dye depth, denier and luster options.

“Denier” is a unit of measurement for the linear mass density of fibers, while “cross-section” is the intersection of a body with a plane in three-dimensional space. Mixed-denier/cross section means simply taking fibers of varying size (mass) and weaving them together in un-uniform planes (three dimensions) to achieve variations that feel and look more like the natural imperfections of fine wool.
